Phlox Subulata

Plant Picks: Creeping Phlox
Creeping Phlox (Phlox Subulata) is a four to six inch tall blooming groundcover with intensely colored blooms. A great choice for tough soil and rocky hillside areas. This spring bloomer is drought tolerant and likes to spread. Commonly known as mountain pink or moss phlox, it works well in the garden as a border or designed into rock gardens. Creeping phlox does best in full sun to part shade, plants can grow up to 3’ wide, great for mass plantings and for erosion control. Flowers offer a beautiful bloom 2 to 3 weeks in the spring.

Positive effects from your landscape
A beautiful landscape will produce a relaxing atmosphere. Plants and trees have a positive psychological value because green surroundings can decrease stress and contribute to a positive well being. While landscapes help us reduce stress, it also encourages happy thoughts and feelings. Hospital patients who see landscapes tend to recover faster than those who do not see the same view. Psychiatrists have learned that looking at beautiful landscapes can decrease anxiety and depressive symptoms. A nicely landscaped garden can uplift spirits especially after spending long hours indoors or after stressful events. Enjoy your landscape and the beautiful scenery it offers because it promotes your well being this season.
